Wonks' Corner

This blog has just reached a new high for site and page hits (feel free to click on the site meter for more details) , so I would like to extend my thanks to the people who have made this a port of call, and particularly to the comment makers, as you good folk give it its texture and make it more than just me talking to myself. Thank you again, and I hope I can continue to make this a place judged worth looking at.

I see you didn't offer to buy us a drink.

If any of you find yourselves in Croydon, I might very well stump up for a drink or two....

William, you're doing well but the banner exchange would help you do even better ;)

I've tried putting up a Right Links button (under the 'nuisance' list), but it isn't showing up properly. Any ideas?

Congrats Croydonian. You're my favourite blog at the moment.

PT - thank you. Very kind of you to say so.

Only two good things have ever come out of Croydon: Croydonian's Blog and Captain Sensible.

Keep it up. Your blog deserves as wide an audience as possible.

William,

Didn't Kate Moss say that she went on holiday to lose her virginity because she didn't want to lose it to a "nasty bloke from Croydon". Considering the sorts she consorts with of late I'm wandering what the blokes she was steering clear of are like. Any comments

Pundit,

Kind of you to say so. I ought to stick up for Croydon a bit more, but every time a friend etc asks what I see in the place the first thing I mention is the transport network....

PT - I can well believe it. I must say that when I'm intent on devilment I tend to go to Clapham. The main street for bars, clubs etc in these parts is all a bit too young and (cough) chavvy for my liking. That was where the mini-riot in 2004 kicked off after France beat England at football. As blogged by me here.

As per the discussion on superpubs etc, they are not my idea of fun at all, and while there are a few good pubs etc away from The Strip, they are none of them what one of my friends would call 'a target-rich environment'.
