A Zionist and a member of Unison? Time to consider your position.

Taking time out from demanding its usual laundry list of re-nationalisations, pay rises all round, cakes and ale and the like, those delightful people attending the Unison conference have voted by a 4-1 majority for AgendaID 053, on 'Palestine':

" 1) withdraw to its 1949-67 borders;

2) allow the refugees of 1948 to return home;

3) remove all its settlements from the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Occupied Syrian Al-Joulan;

4) take down the Apartheid Wall; and

5) respect the Palestinian people's right to national self-determination and to establish a state in the West bank and the Gaza Strip with its capital in Jerusalem.

Note that clauses 2 and 3 are pure Judenrein - Jews can only live within the '49 borders, whereas Arabs can live anywhere, and 'right of return' is the cat's paw for a demographic overwhelming of Israel.

And, "Conference believes that ending the occupation demands concerted and sustained pressure upon Israel including an economic, cultural, academic and sporting boycott".

Big doff of the homburg to Engage for this sorry tale.

What I never understand about Unions and Universities having a show of hands on these rarefied issues is what does it have to do with them?

What next? Unison to have a policy on what side of the road we drive on?

Al-Joulan? Ah of course, most Arabs can't pronounce their g's.

Unison - anti-semitic to the core. Why don't they come out and demand the eradication of Israel?

Blogger Old BE said... 9:10 pm

Unison are also flying my estate telling us to "Vote no to ALMO". Are Unison turning themselves into a political party?

Blogger Mr Eugenides said... 9:11 pm

I suspect UNISON would really like Israel to withdraw to its pre-1948 borders.

I'm sorry to tiptoe in and intrude, and I will bugger out really fast, but I would just like to make clear to Gordon Brown that if he invites me to be in his cabinet, I will not accept and will not serve. I realise this seems to be a bit of a national bandwagon. I just wanted him to know that by the time he works his way down to me, the answer will be 'no'.

Verity: PLEASE reconsider. The country really does need to find somebody who will stand up to him!

JJ - I wonder quite what manner of welcome one would get in a council office if wearing a kippa?

Mr E - Yup, I suspect that is the less than well hidden agenda.

I can see Nomad's point - I suspect that Verity could make a difference, but I also share her distaste for the idea...

I'll ask my ol' pal Brian Gordon.

Pre-1948 borders.

Nice one!

I wonder how many people will get that!

A sad by-product of Jacques Chirac's and Jack Lang's edict banning the burqa on state school property was, they had to clothe it in being about "secularism". France is a secular state and should not allow religious symbolism on state property.

When the muslims began jumping up and down, they had to announced that they were also banning the kippa. It's a shame, but there was no other way to get rid of the hijab.
